Welcome!

Your Social Studies teachers are confident that you will be both intrigued and challenged by the varied approaches to learning that exist in the social sciences.

New York State mandates students to study and successfully complete four years in social studies. These are the courses that are available:

  1. Global History 9
  2. Global History 10
  3. United States History 11
  4. Government
  5. Economics
  6. AP World History
  7. AP U.S. History
  8. AP European History

An Advanced Placement course in European History will be offered at the beginning of your sophomore year. Students who successfully complete Global History in their freshman year with a minimum average of 85 in Global History 1 and 2 may apply for Advanced Placement World History. This course is offered in lieu of Global History 3 and 4.

An Advanced Placement course in U.S. History will be offered at the beginning of your junior year.  Students who successfully complete Global Studies 3 & 4; or AP World History and Geography and score 80 or above on the Global History and Geography Regents may apply for Advanced Placement U.S. History. This course is offered in lieu of U.S. History.

As the Social Studies department continues to grow, we will endeavor to offer a variety of elective courses.

All the best to you as you successfully complete your historical journey.
